West River Health Services Welcomes Dr. Jake Brozek

West River Health Services (WRHS) is pleased to welcome Dr. Jake Brozek. Dr. Brozek is a board-certified family medicine physician with advanced obstetric and cesarean training and is now seeing patients in Hettinger.

A small-town Texan at heart, Dr. Brozek grew up in Bovina, TX, and says Hettinger immediately felt like home when he visited.

When he's not caring for patients, Dr. Brozek enjoys home improvement projects, disc golf, video games, and board games (especially Catan!). He's also an avid fisherman, with a particular love for ice fishing — a hobby he picked up during his residency in South Dakota.

Sports fans, take note, he's a loyal supporter of the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and Kansas Jayhawk Basketball, though he admits his college football loyalties are split! Since moving north, he's also become a big hockey fan, following the Rapid City Rush and UND Men's Team.

Why Family Medicine?

"I grew up in a small town where family doctors were the only doctors," Dr. Brozek said. "They took care of everyone and did everything. When I thought about medicine as a career, I couldn't see myself doing anything else."

Advanced Training in OB & C-Sections

Dr. Brozek has always wanted to deliver babies and support women throughout pregnancy and beyond.

"I wanted to be able to care for my patients through all stages of pregnancy," he explained. "Completing my fellowship in obstetrics and C-sections gave me the experience to handle complex cases and provide complete, compassionate care."

Why WRHS?

"When I came to interview, Hettinger felt like the community I grew up in," he shared. "The people were friendly, the community was active, and the hospital was set up for me to use every skill I gained in training."

Approach to Patient Care

Dr. Brozek believes in collaboration and shared decision-making.

"There isn't always one 'right' answer in medicine," he said. "I like to work with my patients to find the option that fits them best — even if it's not my personal favorite."

Looking Ahead

Dr. Brozek is eager to embrace small-town life again and build lasting connections in the community.

"I've missed the closeness of a small town," he said. "I'm excited to get to know everyone and start helping families live their healthiest lives."
