WRHS Foundation Offering “$11,000 Grant Give-Back” For Area Communities for Healthy Projects! Apply By September 22nd!

The $17,086 total gross brought in by the WRHS Foundation via their 2025 "Fun Run & Walk" event, which witnessed over 200 participants and 10 amazing volunteers -- was collected from 30 financial sponsors who gave $6,650; walker and runner registrations and raffle/bucket draw ticket sales totaling $10,236; and other citizen gifts designated for the Fun Run & Walk of $200. Once the $5,538 in expenses were paid, the WRHS Foundation's Fun Run & Walk Committee decided to give back $11,000 to local communities for healthy projects and activities.

Last year in 2024, the WRHS Foundation gave $10,500 to five area communities, funding projects such as part of a new running/walking track in New England, an AED for the Mott Healthcare Center, CPR/First Aid training for Hettinger High School students, kayaks for the Lemmon Recreation Library, youth golf equipment in Lemmon, safety vests for 135 local students attending Farm Safety Day in Hettinger, First Aid Backpacks for Placemaker events in Lemmon, and equipment for the Avery Lynn Park in Prairie City.

If you have a good idea for a healthy project or activity within one of our area satellite communities (Hettinger, Bowman, Scranton, New England, Mott, and Lemmon) or a nearby community, please consider completing our "grant give-back" application. We will accept applications through 5:00 p.m. MST on Monday, September 22, 2025. If selected to receive a grant, you will be required to submit an invoice by January 12, 2026, to receive your grant check.

Thank you to all of the 2025 "Fun Run & Walk" sponsors, volunteers, runners, walkers, and ticket purchasers. We are grateful. You're the reason we've been able to give back $40,950 to area communities for healthy projects and activities over the last four years. Onward! Ted Uecker, FDO
