Partners In Health Club Extends Membership Drive to July 6th!
By Ted Uecker, WRHS Foundation

West River Health Services Foundation, the fundraising arm of West River Health Services, has extended their membership drive for their 2020 Partners In Health Club to July 6th. Now, with the pandemic spreading nationwide maybe more than ever before, is the right time to consider joining our Partners In Health Club.

For a gift of $100 or more over one year’s time, any individual, family, business or organization can become a member of our Partners In Health Club. This fundraising club began in 2002 to create extra funds for needed equipment (beyond the yearly capital budget) at West River Health Services and Western Horizons Living Centers. And not only for medical equipment in Hettinger; as historically, Partners In Health Club has also funded equipment regularly for WRHS satellite clinics in Bowman, New England, Mott, Scranton and Lemmon. Heck, even in McIntosh, Bison and Buffalo back in the day!

Over the last 19 years, Partners In Health Club has raised over $600,000 for needed equipment! Since our overall #1 priority currently is to hire more physicians, this year you can give to either our Partners In Health Club Fund or our Physician Recruitment Endowment Fund – and your gift will make you a member of our Partners In Health Club. Our goal is to reach $400,000 with our Physician Recruitment Endowment Fund (currently we reside at $245,000 raised in less than two years). Once reached, we will have $20,000 in interest (assuming an average of 5% interest) each and every year going forward to utilize for: 1) a new physician signing bonus, 2) forgiveness of a new physician’s student loans, or 3) toward our Ambassador Program, where current or retired WRHS physicians fly in to visit with prospective physicians about coming to the Greater Hettinger Area with their families to practice medicine.

This past year, our Partners In Health Club created $43,223 for the following needs: $5,570 for ten overbed tables at the hospital; $5,034 for exam room chairs at Hettinger Clinic; $5,000 for a dryer at Care Center; $4,800 for an endoscope cabinet with hepafilter in Surgery Center; $2,800 toward a microbiology incubator in Laboratory; $2,220 for an airway management trainer for EMS; $2,200 for a blood pressure monitoring device in Surgery; $1,500 for a geri-chair at hospital; $1,500 for a medi-dose unit packaging system in Pharmacy; $1,299 for a Schwinn Airdyne at Bowman Clinic; $1,100 for a Gus Station in Radiology; $750 for a cardiology holter monitor in our Stress Lab; and $650 for a wheelchair scale in the Hettinger Clinic.

Please consider joining our Partners in Health Club today. It’s easy! You can clip out the nearby advertisement and send a check to us or give Ted Uecker a call at 701-567-3666 if you’d like to learn more. Together we are Rural Strong. With your help, we are even more “Prepared to Care.” Onward!
