We’re Back! The West River Health Services Foundation is once again making its way back to the Scranton Gymnasium for “Giving Hearts Hoops Night” on Tuesday, January 28th. The Hettinger Scranton “NightHawks” boy’s basketball varsity and junior varsity teams will be hosting the New England “Tigers” for a battle among nearby communities starting at 5:30pm. Although Giving Hearts Day is not until February 13th, the WRHS Foundation is getting area communities revved up in advance of the big day!
So what’s happening at Giving Hearts Hoops Night? First of all, your ADMISSION IS FREE! Thanks to loyal business partners Fitter Oil, Scranton Equity, Dakota Western Bank and Haley Evans Tax & Financial Services, everyone gets in FREE! All the more reason for everyone to consider a $10 or more gift to the WRHS Foundation upon entry -- for more TOP DOCS. Plus, with a $10 or more gift, you’ll receive a FREE red or white lei; and discount coupons to Next Door Pizza for 10% off your next bill and to RZ Motors for 25% off service or parts. Plus, you’ll be entered into Drawings for Prizes! For a $100 or more gift to the WRHS Foundation, you’ll receive a red “TOP DOCS” t-shirt! What an amazing deal!
In addition, THANKS to our t-shirt sponsors, all of the 4th grade boys (who will be playing at halftime of the JV game), Junior Varsity and Varsity boys basketball players from both towns, statisticians and coaches, will be outfitted in Giving Hearts Day t-shirts! Maybe even the refs! And we want all the fans to please WEAR RED! Let’s have a RED OUT! We will be taking a HUGE group photo of all players, coaches and fans after the final buzzer.
You’ll also want to attend the “RZ Motors Freethrow Shootout” at halftime of the Varsity game. Three shooters, including Dirk Mack from Scranton, plus one representative each from Hettinger and New England, will also shoot 10 freethrows. Anyone can pledge any amount for any shooter or all shooters. RZ Motors has already pledged $25 each for all three shooters. If the shooter you pledged makes all ten and you pledged $20, you’d write a check to “WRHSF” and our TOP DOCS fund for $200. Our overall goal is to raise $191,672 for this 2020 Giving Hearts Day effort. We already have $62,000 in Matching Funds, so we all need to pull together to Match the Match – and then some! We all agree that we need more TOP DOCS in our neighborhood. Let’s “Hoop It Up” on Tuesday, January 28th – for our local boys roundballers and more TOP DOCS! Onward!
