West River Health Services recognizes and supports diabetes self-education as an essential part of providing quality care to the people that we serve.

We use a multidisciplinary team approach to assist people with diabetes since 1983 when we were still called "Community Memorial Hospital." Certified diabetes educators have staffed the program since 1995.

Our program is nationally recognized by the American Diabetes Association. To maintain this status, we must meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. The ADA endorses these standards to promote quality education for the people with diabetes.

Our services include:

• Individual education sessions scheduled with our nurse educator or dietitian educator, both certified diabetes educators (CDEs).
• Group education sessions: "Living with Diabetes" classes are offered on a regular basis in the classrooms at West River Health Services. Pre-registration is required.
