West River Health Services is a nationally recognized rural health care organization. A 15 physician, multi-specialty group practice, ten mid-levels and nine visiting specialists independently provide professional services in a modern rural health care system.

Providing access to quality
medicine in a rural environment has been the vision and goal of
this medical system since its inception.
The corporate structure of the organization is comprised of three 501C3(not for profit) corporations. WRHSF is the Foundation/ fundraising and parent corporation. WRHS is the healthcare services and subsidiary corporation. Western Horizons Living Centers is the care centers and subsidiary corporation. Each corporation has board members from across the geographic area served by the organization.
Rural people deserve
as high quality medical care as their urban counterparts. To
provide this level of care, a sophisticated medical system has
evolved in southwestern North Dakota. West River Health
Services' Board of Directors,
administration, medical staff, and employees have and are working
hard for the growth and improvement of the medical system. As a
result of this commitment, it is one of the most progressive and
complete rural health care systems available in a three-state area,
perhaps in the nation. West River has received national
and regional recognition for outstanding and innovative service
in rural health care.
It is WRHS mission to provide the
highest possible standard of health care. This standard is reflected
by the state-of-the-art technology available for diagnostic purposes,
as well as by the caring attitude of the employees toward the

of ancillary support services including: a CLIA laboratory;
a full range of imaging services including general radiology,
teleradiology, mammography, nuclear medicine/SPECT, CT scanning,
diagnostic ultrasound, echocardiography and mobile MRI; cardiopulmonary
services; telemedicine; physical, respiratory, and speech therapy;
swing bed; three-bed intensive care unit; six-bed LDRP obstetrics
unit; in-house pharmacy; level IV trauma unit; visiting nurses;
marriage and family therapy services; optometry services; dietetics/nutritional
counseling; surgical services; day surgery; advance life support
ambulance; and ambulatory clinic, Hettinger.
