The month of May ended with a big open house party on the 31st at the Senior Center given by Susie Melby’s family in honor of her 95th birthday. Much of her family came for the celebration.
Virginia Meisner’s family served birthday cake for her June 1st natal day.
The timely rains have made everything as green as it can get. Thanks to White Drug for plants and for the staff and several volunteers who planted the garden and flower containers and are taking care of them. It is nice to watch things growing.
Lorraine Stephenson had her heart surgery June 4th at St. Alexius in Bismarck. Her son and wife were with her through the surgery. A daughter came from Oregon to be with her at home. Due to complications she has been back at St. A’s. Our thoughts and prayers are with her for a good recovery.
Most of us contributed to the Senior Center benefit Pie Day and we enjoyed eating the pies that were delivered to us on the 12th.
Agnes Braaten’s family held an Open House at the Eagles on the 14th in honor of her 85th Birthday (which had been in March). Many of her family from away came to see her during that week.
We enjoyed a Rhubarb Crunch brought to us by National Mutual Benefit. We were also treated to fresh Rhubarb Pie made and brought by Dan and Gladys Merwin. We are well fed!
Holland Center Church members came for a service and hymn singing on the 15th. WE look forward to their coming every other month.
The monthly birthday party was held on the 18th. June birthdays were those of Virginia Meisner and Helen Lindquist. Weekly Bible study hour on Thursdays with Rev. and Mrs. Weems resumed on the 18th after a two week absence due to other duties.
Pearle Jesjfeld enjoyed her class reunion and the Bison celebration the 21st. Also an overnight stay in her old home.
Tenant Council met on the 26th. We were reminded of how we are to evacuate when the fire alarm rings, do not wait for anything. In event of a tornado warning, we are to go to our bathroom or storage room and stay there until told it is okay. Walking certificates were handed out to those doing the prescribed walking for exercise. We were reminded Sept. 7 – 13 is Assisted Living Week and our family picnic will be held then. Arlene Johnson spoke about Urinary Tract infections.
Many of our residents are expecting relatives and friends to come for the 4th of July Celebration this coming week.
