Electronic Health Record (EHR) IS HERE!
Things have changed in your medical world. The clinics of West River Health
Services have been changing and will continue to change throughout the summer.
Since April, your scheduling and registration contacts at West River have been
asking for more information, verifying insurance, and updating all your basic
information. This has been the lead-in to an electronic health record.
Now, your office visit will be different! The nurse will be gathering more
information on your medical history and background, and your medication list will
be updated and entered electronically. Please help as much as you can by
bringing your medication information with you.
In the exam room, our hand held and desktop computers will allow us to access
and update all of your pertinent medical history. Your doctor will soon be able to
show you graphs of your vital signs or lab tests and prescribe your medications
with a link to your preferred pharmacy. This fall we will be able to access x-rays
with a link to the radiology department’s electronic images.
There has been such a tremendous amount of training and learning going on for
all of our staff and medical providers. Your doctor may be taking fewer patients
for a short time while the change is happening. Like many changes, this will
take longer at first and get faster as we go along. Thank you for your patience
while being our patients! We know that better information means better care.
